In an earlier time, Armenia
covered a much greater area. (See Lake Sevan for reference on both
maps.) But in the first genocidal ethnic cleansing of the 20th Century,
the Turks forced one and a half million Armenians from their ancestral
homes and marched them into the Syrian desert. Only a few survived
the trip. This genocide is documented through eyewitness
accounts, through photos, and other historical
records, but is denied by the Turks.
